Club America forward Michael Arroyo scored a golazo for Ecuador, but it wasn't enough as La Tricolor fell 2-1 to the United States and were eliminated from the Copa America Centenario.
With the score at 1-0, things went from bad to worse for Ecuador when Gyasi Zardes doubled the USMNT's lead from point-blank range.
But some hope was restored after Michael Arroyo struck home from the edge of the box to pull Ecuador within one with 15 minutes to go.
Ecuador then put the United States under pressure, and Enner Valenca came closest to equalizing twice when the West Ham striker narrowly failed to hit the target twice.
Despite Ecuador's late dominance, the United States held on to an emphatic victory to advance to the semifinals of the Copa America Centenario. Jurgen Klinsmann's side will now wait for the winner of Argentina vs. Venezuela for their semifinal clash in Houston.
