Independiente del Valle sprang a major surprise by taking down River Plate in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. Now the Ecuadorian side will look to continue their fairy tale season as they pay a visit to Pumas UNAM at the Estadio Olimpico Universtario.

Guillermo Vazquez's side will attempt to overturn a 2-1 deficit in the second leg after Independiente del Valle took control of the tie thanks to two goals from Jose Angulo.

Crucially for Pumas, though, the Universtarios grabbed an away goal and a 1-0 win would be enough to push them through to the semifinals. As they have already discovered this season, they are more than capable of staging a second leg comeback, coming from a goal down to beat Deportivo Tachira to get to this stage.

The Universtarios can take solace from the fact that they are unbeaten at home in this Copa Libertadores. Moreover, the hosts can also expect plenty of support given that Pumas are the only Mexican team left in the competition.

As such, the bar was set high by Tigres last season when the Liga MX side reached the final. The Universitarios are now tasked with replicating a similar feat.
