Raul Jimenez became the first Mexican to ever win a Portuguese league title as Benfica cruised towards their third straight league title with a 4-1 win over Nacional.

Jimenez, who came on as a 73rd minute substitute, played an important role in Benfica's season, scoring two late winners down the stretch to help the Águias to a historic 35th league title.

Since arriving to Benfica from Atletico Madrid over the summer. Jimenez has scored 11 goals and notched 5 assists in all competitions.

The title is Raul Jimenez's fourth in his professional club career, previously earning two Liga MX titles with Club America and a Spanish Super Cup with Atletico Madrid.

Jimenez joins Andres Guardado, Hector Moreno, and Alan Pulido as Mexican players who have earned league titles in Europe this season.

Benfica will have another chance to add to their trophy cabinet on Friday when they close their 2015/2016 campaign by taking on Maritimo in the Taça da Liga final.
