The second legs of the Liga MX quarterfinals begin on Saturday, and with three of four match-ups ending in draws in the first 90 minutes, there is still plenty to play for.
Undoubtedly, Monterrey are the favorites to win the title, and after a stunning 3-1 win at rivals Tigres, it's hard to see them not reaching the semifinals. Antonio "Turco" Mohamed's side were simply brilliant playing on the counter, and barring a Tigres comeback for the ages, the Clasico Regio quarterfinals will be white and blue.
On the other hand, things are a whole lot closer between Leon and Monarcas Morelia. La Fiera took an away goal advantage after their 1-1 draw in Michoacan, but there is no question that Morelia will be going all out to win this one.Enrique "Ojitos" Meza's pupils have nothing to lose, and following a season in which they avoided relegation, a semifinal appearance would be a nice prize for the Michoacan outfit.
Meanwhile, there's nothing like another Clasico Nacional to get the juices flowing, with Club America and Chivas fighting it out for a place in the final four. The first leg ended goalless and with both teams ruing costly red cards. Las Aguilas will be without star player Rubens Sambueza, while Chivas will be missing both manager Matias Almeyda and starting forward Angel Zaldivar.
With their clash coming at the Estadio Azteca, there is no bigger occasion in Mexican futbol, and one thing is for certain, sparks will fly on this one.
Finally, the quarterfinals will close when Pachuca host Santos Laguna at the Estadio Hidalgo. The Tuzos were not as fluent as they would had liked to be in the first leg but still escaped Torreon with a 1-1 draw.
The importance of Pachuca's away goal will be even more crucial considering the Tuzos have scored in every home game this season. Without the injured Agustin Marchesin in goal, things will be even tougher for the Guerreros, who will need to find goals from somewhere if they want to make the semifinals.
