FIFA Ranking: Mexico move up six places to 16th

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

The Mexico national team received a small boost ahead of the Copa America Centenario by climbing six places to 16th in the latest official FIFA rankings.

The Mexico national team played two games during the month of March, obtaining two comfortable wins over Canada in World Cup Qualifying.

Meanwhile, CONCACAF rivals Costa Rica moved up eight places to 25th, while the United States finished in spot 29.

Elsewhere, Belgium, who was at the top of the rankings for five months, was ousted by Copa America runners-up Argentina.

The Mexico national team will take the field again on May 28 against Paraguay in one of two tune-up friendlies before the Copa America Centenario.
