Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich settled for a goalless draw on Saturday as Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez failed to get on the scoresheet against the German champions in a hard-fought game at the BayArena.
Despite having a few touches, it was another good outing for the Mexican international, who came closest to opening the scoring in the 53rd minute when a shot from long-rage missed by just a few inches of Manuel Neuer's goal.
In the 83rd minute, Xabi Alonso was sent off with a second yellow for a foul on Chicharito, but Bayer Leverkusen were unable to take advantage in the closing minutes of the match, as the game was decided with a draw.
The result leaves Leverkusen two points behind fourth-placed Schalke 04 in the race for a Champions League finish.
Meanwhile it was a mixed day for Marco Fabian in his team's 4-2 home defeat to Stuttgart. The visitors are one of the in-form teams of the Bundesliga and they recorded their fourth straight victory on Saturday.
With the score at 4-1 and beyond Eintracht Frankfurt's reach, Marco Fabian notched his first Bundesliga assist when his corner ended with Szabolcs Huszti firing home the 4-2.
With the result, Frankfurt are now only two points clear of 16th-placed Werder Bremen, who sit in a playoff relegation spot.
