As club encounters go, it doesn’t get bigger than taking on the European champions. After successfully defeating Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the quarterfinals, Club America travel to Yokohama to take on Real Madrid.

Aguilas and Merengues have met just three times in their history. The most recent meeting came in 2010 in a friendly where Real Madrid defeated America 3-2.

Both teams are coming off impressive runs. Las Aguilas have not lost since Ricardo La Volpe took over the team in September, and in total are unbeaten in their last 16 games in all competitions.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, are an astounding 35 games unbeaten. Moreover, they boast of the flamboyant four-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking to the press, coach Zinedine Zidane told reporters, “ We are conscious it is a special game for them, but it’s also a special game for us.” We will see just how special it will be for Las Aguilas in their centenary season.
