Osorio names Mexico World Cup qualifying roster for USMNT and Panama matches

Carlos Vela is among those named in Mexico’s 25-man squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against the United States and Panama.

Coach Juan Carlos Osorio included the Real Sociedad forward after a year-long absence with El Tri that saw him miss out on last summer’s Copa America Centenario team.

The roster, though, looks a lot like what was expected as Osorio selects 17 of 23 players from the Copa America Centenario squad, including regulars like Hector Moreno, Andres Guardado, Jesus “Tecatito” Corona, and Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez.

Defender Carlos Salcedo also makes the squad after impressing since making the move to Italy’s Fiorentina.

Mexico is seeking to win their first ever game against the United States in Columbus, Ohio, which will be played on Friday November 11. El Tri then travel to Panama City four days later to take one Panama at the Estadio Rommel Fernández.
