Los Angeles FC isn’t due to make their Major League Soccer debut until the year 2018, but they are already targeting one of Mexico’s biggest players. According to journalist Mark Ogden from ESPNF FC, Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez is one of ten players in a shortlist of targets for the Los Angeles-based soccer club.
Chicharito’s current contract with Bayer Leverkusen ends in 2018, and while most transfer rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, according to Fox Deportes’ commentating team, who travels often to cover German Bundesliga games, Chicharito wouldn’t see the move as a bad idea.
Chicharito is just one of two Mexico national team players recently targeted by MLS expansion clubs, with PSV Eindhoven’s Andres Guardado reportedly confirming interest from Atlanta United. Forward Giovani dos Santos is already a member of the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Other names in LAFC’s shortlist include Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, Real Madrid’s Luka Modric, and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
