The Mexico national team earned a hard-fought 2-1 win over New Zealand on Saturday. Goals from Giovani dos Santos and Marco Fabian were enough to give Juan Carlos Osorio's side the victory against a tough New Zealand side.
Given that El Tri play the United States in a month, for a number of players this represented a chance at impressing the coach. While the defense had an underwhelming performance on the field, there were some positives as Giovani dos Santos looked active playing right behind the main striker. There were also other noteworthy performances in the midfield.
