Urretaviscaya solo-goal helps 10-man Pachuca earn 2-1 win at Chivas

Jonathan Urretaviscaya scored a wonder goal in the second half to help Pachuca earn a 2-1 win at Chivas, who were left to rue missed chances after playing most of the second half with an extra man in a highly entertaining match at the Estadio Chivas.

Chivas controlled much of the early play and took the lead when Hedgardo Marin headed the Rebaño Sagrado in front from an Edwin Hernandez corner.

Soon after the half-hour mark, Erick Aguirre burst through the left-wing and played in Franco Jara, who found himself on goal to level the score.

Pachuca were more composed after half-time but found themselves in trouble when Hirving Lozano received his marching orders for two yellow cards in a matter of ten minutes.

Chivas had their best chance to get a winner in the 80th minute, but Marco Bueno’s hard shot rattled the left post.

It was a missed chance Chivas would lament as seven minutes later Pachuca got their winner. Jonathan Urretaviscaya grabbed the ball in his team’s own field and dribbled his way across more than half the stadium before chipping Rodolfo Cota to give the Tuzos an emphatic win away from home.

The result puts Pachuca within touching distance of sealing a place in the Liguilla, and next, the Tuzos host Atlas at the Estadio Hidalgo.

Meanwhile, Chivas will look to bounce back in midweek action when they take on arch-rivals Club America in the semifinals of the Copa MX.
