Liga MX Final, 2015 Apertura, TV schedule and live stream

It is that time to decide which team will stand atop Mexican football for the next six months as Pumas UNAM and Tigres UANL lock horns in the Liga MX Final.

The game will feature the regular season's highest scoring team Pumas and the tournament's best defense in Tigres.

Pumas are seeking an eighth Liga MX triumph but go into the final having struggled to get there. The Universitarios were somewhat fortunate to beat Veracruz in the quarterfinals, and they were left frustrated by Club America in their last match as Las Aguilas managed to come within a goal of pulling one of the greatest comebacks in Liga MX history.

Still, Pumas can call on the talents of Fidel Martinez, Ismael Sosa, and Eduardo Herrera in attack and have already shown what they have are capable of after finishing at the top of the Liga MX table in the regular season. They are a counterattacking side by nature, and coach Guillermo Vazquez hopes his team's forwards will have greater freedom to break quickly when they take on a more possession-minded Tigres.

Meanwhile, Tigres have not won the title since 2011 but, one year after falling against Club America in the final, have a chance to lift the trophy for the fourth time, which would see them equal the amount of league titles held by their crosstown rivals Rayados.

They will also be looking to avoid a repeat of the heartache which followed their defeat to River Plate in the Copa Libertadores final back in August.

Los Felinos have won their only previous league final meeting against Pumas in 1978 thanks to a 3-1 aggregate win and will attempt to replicate the same on Sunday.

Tigres hopes are further boosted by their star-studded attack, with the likes of Andre-Pierre Gignac, Jurgen Damm, and Javier Aquino leading the line.

But coach Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti deserves real credit for how he has manged to put together one of the most memorable Liga MX sides in recent history. They, like him, personify a methodical approach that is both progressive in style and effective.

After leading the Mexico national team past the United States in the CONCACAF Cup, ending the year with the league title would be the icing on the cake on a magnificent year for Ricardo Ferretti.
