Santos Laguna are set to terminate the contract of manager Pako Ayestaran upon mutual consent, the club confirmed on Saturday.
The Spanish coach assumed control of the reigning Liga MX champions in August and will leave Santos after only 11 league games in front of the Guerreros.
"Chivas will be the last game I'll lead with Santos," Ayestaran said. "It is not easy for me to say goodbye to them or break this project."
"At this time I feel that another coach could be more suitable for Santos. The decision has been made and we are in total agreement."
Ayestaran has been linked in the past as a favorite to take over the vacant Israel national team job. He enjoyed domestic success with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 2014/2015 season.
