Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez scored a double in Bayer Leverkusen's 4-4 Champions League thriller against Roma on Tuesday night.

Hernandez netted twice in under 20 minutes, as he opened the scoring with a fifth minute penalty and then beat Wojciech Szczesny a second time, following up on his own saved shot.

The Italian side equalized through two goals from Daniele de Rosi before Miralem Pjanic gave Rudi Garcia's men the lead.

Iago Falque increased Roma's advantage in the 73rd minute, but Leverkusen fought back as Kevin Kampl and Admir Mehmedi scored within minutes to rescue a draw for the German side.

The result means Bayer Leverkusen remain second in Group E behind first place Barcelona

Meanwhile, Miguel Layun grabbed an assist as FC Porto cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The former America defender sent a perfect cross for Vincent Aboubakar, who headed home to send Julen Lopetegui's side on their way to an easy 2-0 win.

Jesus "Tecatito" Corona started and played 54 minutes, while Hector Herrera played the last six minutes.
