Two different versions of the Mexican national team will be in action this week, as both the senior squad and the U-23 youngsters have friendlies scheduled on Wednesday night in the United States. Chepo de la Torre's side will be in Miami to take on Colombia, in what will be the senior team's last match together until late May. On the same night, Luis Tena's Under-23 selections will also be in action, taking on the United States in Dallas less than one month ahead of CONCACAF's Olympic qualifying tournament.
The senior side will feature a heavy Morelia and Tigres influence, with three Monarcas players and four UANL players called up from the domestic league. Of special note is the appearance of Damian Alvarez, a newly-naturalized Mexican citizen who will don the jersey of El Tri for the first time at age 32. The list of international call-ups includes a name that many Mexican fans have been loudly clamoring for as of late: Jonathan dos Santos. The young Barcelona midfielder returns to the national team fold for the first time since last summer's Copa America scandal.
Mexico vs. Colombia can be seen on Wednesday, February 29th, at 8pm eastern on Univision. The U-23 match between Mexico and the United States can be seen the same night at 10pm eastern, also on Univision.
