No matter what happens tonight between Mexico and Cuba, the match has already been overshadowed by the news earlier in the day that five Mexico players tested positive for a banned substance. Fransisco 'Maza' Rodriguez, Memo Ochoa, Edgar Dueñas, Sinha, and Christian "Hobbit" Bermudez have all been ruled ineligible for tonight's match. Also making the rounds briefly was a (now debunked) rumor that several Cuba players had defected and left the team. In brighter news, the fans in attendance tonight in Charlotte will be treated to a Mexico starting lineup featuring both Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and Giovani Dos Santos. Mexico appears to be going for the kill early against Cuba, with an incredibly attack-minded squad taking the field tonight.
Mexico lineup (4-1-3-2): Talavera; Salcido, Moreno, Marquez (C), Juarez; Torrado; Guardado, Dos Santos, Barrera; Reyna, Chicharito.
Cuba lineup: Molina, Dranguet, Fernandez, Marquez, Joel Colome, Francisco, Hernandez, Jaine Colome (C), Cervantes, Gomez, Linares.
Kickoff will follow Costa Rica vs. El Salvador, sometime around 9:30 pm ET, televised in the U.S. on Univision. Keep it right here for continued coverage.
