Following his participation in a brawl during the Cruz Azul-Monarcas Morelia Liguilla match on Sunday night, Cruz Azul goalkeeper Jose de Jesus Corona has been dropped from the Mexican national team squad and he will no longer represent El Tri at the 2011 Gold Cup (Copa Oro). Monterrey's Jonathan Orozco has been called up to replace him in the squad.

We asked earlier who should replace Corona in the national team squad, and the response was overwhelming in favor of Chivas Guadalajara's Luis Michel, who did not get the call-up. Michel has been brilliant lately for Chivas and is generally considered to be above Orozco in the pecking order for the national team's No. 1 shirt, so it's safe to assume that Michel was not called up because El Tri want to start him in Copa America. In Gold Cup, he would have simply been Guillermo Ochoa's backup.

There is no word yet on whether or not Corona and other players involved in the brawl will be suspended to start the 2011 Apertura.
