Club America fans in San Francisco for a friendly match against Manchester City last July.
With just over three weeks remaining until the opening of the 2012 Apertura, every Liga MX team is now fully immersed in preseason preparations. As part of their training, all teams will play several tune-up matches in anticipation of the new season. While most of these matches will take place in Mexico, several Liga MX teams will also be traveling to the United States to play in preseason friendlies over the next three weeks. The highest profile of these U.S.-based fixtures will be the Saturday, June 30th showdown between Club America and the Tijuana Xolos at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. Other matches include Club America taking on Cruz Azul at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, as well as multiple games featuring at least one of last year's league finalists, Monterrey and Santos Laguna.
