Copa América 2011, Mexico Vs. Peru: Lineups, Television, Live Match Thread

Stay connected for news and updates

In just under a half hour, Mexico will kick off against Peru that could be a direct playoff for third place in Group C. Javier Aquino gets the start over Oribe Peralta for Mexico, meaning El Tri keeps the same lineup that lost 2-1 to Chile on Monday night. Forward Paolo Guerrero, left winger Juan Manuel Vargas and defender Santiago Acasiete are the most recognizable names in Peru's lineup, though FMF fans will also remember defender Walter Vílchez from his two seasons in Mexico with Cruz Azul and Puebla.

Uruguay and Chile drew 1-1 in the early game, meaning Chile sits top of Group C with four points. With Uruguay on two points, Peru on one and Mexico with none, the team that wins tonight will be second going into the final round of games and have its destiny in its own hands. A draw could be potentially fatal for Mexico, as it means El Tri would be eliminated by any result except a win in the last game, against Uruguay.
